We did a very different kind of silk screening for this project because we didn't have the facilities to do traditional silk screening. Students were allowed to pick what ever kind of image they wanted for their silk screened t-shits as long as it was original. They began stretching a piece of silk over an embroidery hoop and tracing the image they had drawn onto the silk. They then painted the screen everywhere that they wanted to remain white on their t-shirt using acrylic paint. After doing a test print on paper, the students printed on their t-shirts.
Work by Arjan Sierra, Jose Gonzalez, and Calista Casanas was shown at the SFUSD Arts Festival at the Asian Art Museum.
